I’m Moxie.
I’ve been drawing and creating characters since before I can remember. Around 15 I started to pursue art a little more seriously, so I created a Deviantart account, bought a Wacom tablet and attempted this thing called digital art.
I studied animation and graphic design at university while playing lots of video games, only to realise 4 years later what I really wanted to do was illustrate and create characters and worlds. Now, I work in the toy and animation industry, creating self-contained worlds and characters from scratch which end up as real, tangible products!
With video games and animation as my inspiration, I’m documenting my art journey and want to pass on the skills and exp I gain on to others. I aim to help people figure out what they want to do with art, how to get there professionally, and teach some techniques and tips that I’ve learned in my 10 years of digital art, like how to draw, paint, create characters and work in the digital medium!

Where are you from?
Melbourne, Australia.
How long have you been drawing?
Basically since day 1. My grandma has kept almost everything I’ve drawn since I could hold a pencil.
Where did the name Moxie come from?
It’s an old word which means determination and the will to go on, no matter what. I first heard it when playing Pokemon White - it’s an ability Gyarados had which made him stronger each time he defeated another Pokemon. Since then I started noticing it everywhere. I thought it was cool.
What programs do you use?
I use Photoshop CC and Procreate.
What tablet do you use?
I use a Wacom Cintiq Pro 24 as my main, as well as an iPad Pro with an Apple Pencil, and an Intuos Pro (Medium).
What brushes do you use?

Did you go to art school?
Technically, yes - for graphic design and briefly, animation. I’m a self taught illustrator.
